Workshop

Between Two Calls to Care: Motherhood and the Inner Transitions of Humanitarian Women

Wednesday, April 8 @6pm

Motherhood and humanitarian work are both rooted in care, but they do not always sit easily side by side.

This 90-minute session explores the often unspoken inner experience of women navigating the journey into motherhood while working in the aid sector. From the desire to become a mother, through matrescence, and into the ongoing negotiation between personal and professional care, this talk offers a space to reflect on what is rarely named.

Together, we will explore the emotional and identity tensions that arise when two deep commitments to care begin to pull in different directions, and how these tensions are not simply problems to solve, but experiences to understand, process, and relate to differently.

This is not a conversation about balance or quick fixes. It is an invitation to slow down, to notice, and to bring more awareness to both the inner and embodied experience of this transition.

In this session, you can expect:
* A thoughtful exploration of the full lifecycle of motherhood in the aid sector, from intention to integration
* Honest reflections on the identity shifts and emotional tensions that often remain unspoken
* Gentle somatic practices to help you notice and release tension held in the body
* A space that is warm, grounded, and free from clichés or expectations

You will leave with:
* A deeper understanding of your own experience, whatever stage you are in
* Language for feelings and tensions that may have been hard to articulate
* A new perspective on care, both for others and for yourself
* A sense of permission to navigate this path in your own way

Practice

Conscious Connected Breathwork Session

Saturday, April 11@6pm

This guided Conscious Connected Breathwork session offers a gentle yet powerful opportunity to move what may be held beneath the surface.

For many women in the aid sector, especially those navigating motherhood or the transition into it, the experience of holding, managing, and continuing can become deeply embodied. Tension, fatigue, and unprocessed emotions often settle in the body in ways that are not always visible, but deeply felt.

This session creates a dedicated space to pause and tend to that inner landscape. Through a guided 45-minute Breathwork practice, you will be supported to connect more deeply with your body, allowing emotions, sensations, and held tension to surface and release in a safe and held way. No prior experience is needed, but the invitation is to come with an open mind and heart.

In this session, you can expect:

* A clear and gentle introduction to Conscious Connected Breathwork
* A fully guided breathing journey in a safe and supportive space
* Time to slow down, soften, and reconnect with your body
* A closing integration to help you land and process your experience

You will leave with:

* A sense of release, lightness, or emotional clarity
* A deeper connection to your body and inner experience
* Tools to support ongoing self-awareness and regulation
* A feeling of being more grounded, present, and resourced

This is an invitation to step out of doing, even briefly, and into a space where your own experience can be felt, acknowledged, and gently supported.

Please carefully read the Waiver for Conscious Connected Breathwork in advance of the session, which you can find here
